2025 has been a fantastic year for Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He scored a historic century in the IPL, after which he has been making a splash at the Under-19 level. In the very first match of the Under-19 Asia Cup, he played a blistering innings of 171 runs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a century off 35 balls against the Gujarat Titans in the IPL, which is the fastest century by an Indian batsman in IPL history. After this, he scored centuries for the Indian Under-19 team in both ODIs and Tests, and then also scored a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Vaibhav’s explosive form was also seen in the Under-19 matches, but still, the BCCI cannot include him in the national team. This is because he is prevented from playing due to an ICC rule. What is the ICC rule?

The minimum age for playing international cricket is 15 years, according to an ICC rule. This rule was established in 2020.  Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently 14 years old; he will turn 15 on March 27th next year. This is approximately more than 100 days away. This means Vaibhav cannot be part of the national team for at least another 102 days.

Rajasthan Royals bought Vaibhav Suryavanshi for Rs 1.1 crore in the last auction. In his first season, he scored 252 runs in 7 matches, with a strike rate of over 200 (206.55). He hit a total of 24 sixes in the tournament.

Apart from the IPL, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has scored 207 runs in 8 First-Class matches, with a strike rate of 90. Vaibhav’s highest score in first-class cricket is 93 runs. In 6 List A matches, he has scored 132 runs at a strike rate of 110. In 18 T20 matches, Vaibhav has scored a total of 701 runs, including 3 centuries.
