AEW Suspends Jeff Hardy Without Pay After DUI Arrest

Following Jeff Hardy’s arrest in Florida, All Elite Wrestling has suspended Jeff Hardy without pay for the foreseeable future.




The AEW owner and CEO Tony Khan confirmed the news in a statement on his Twitter account. Saying that Hardy had been suspended without pay. Jeff would be able to return to the company after successfully completing his treatment.

Khan also said he was in touch with Jeff Hardy, and made it clear that the company did not condone his behavior. However, he noted that he would assist Hardy in getting treatment for his drug abuse issues. Tony Khan said that Hardy had indicated that he was ready to receive them.

AEW Suspends Jeff Hardy Without Pay

Hardy was arrested earlier this week in Florida and charged with multiple offenses, including suspended, revoked, or revoked driving license, violation of driving license restrictions, and his third DUI within 10 years. Hardy is currently out of custody after posting a $3,500 bond, and Tuesday’s court hearing was adjourned for unknown reasons.

Fightful Select reported Wednesday afternoon that they spoke with a number of AEW talent. They revealed that Jeff and his brother, Matt Hardy, were strongly considered for the AEW World Tag Team Championship before the AEW Double or Nothing.

Talent also told Fightful that there were concerns about Hardy’s performance in the AEW doubles or nothing, where he was particularly close during Hardy’s victory over The Young Bucks in the second game on the card. Matt Hardy later claimed that Jeff suffered a head injury early in the match.

Fightful further stated that due to the double or no match and the resulting concerns. Hardy’s run for the tag title was over in the match, hoping to win the title from Jurassic Express instead of The Young Bucks. However, Fightful could not confirm whether those were current plans. He also noted the segment that aired last week on “Dynamite” featuring Hardy’s, Bucks, and Jurassic Express. Which set up a three-way ladder match for the AEW tag team title, which was taped a week ago.
